Abstract

Chitrakoot is a famous religious place situated on bank of holy river Mandakini. Several Ghats, platforms and temples are situated on both sides of the river. On festive occasions thousands of people take bath at different Ghats (Sphatik shila, Janaki Kund, Pramod Van, Ramghat etc.) of the river. The huge bathing activity might affect physical, chemical and biological characteristics of the river water. Therefore we have undertaken this study.
